Introduction

Leisure & Culture Dundee is proud to present the Active Dundee Sports Awards, celebrating the exceptional achievements of Dundee’s sports clubs, schools and individuals over the past year.

This evening’s awards are shaped around the theme “Changing Lives Through Sport”, recognising the powerful and positive impact sport has at every level — from grassroots participation to elite performance. Across Dundee, sport is helping to change lives by raising aspirations, strengthening communities, and addressing wider challenges such as educational attainment, the cost-of-living crisis, and antisocial behaviour. The nominations showcased tonight reflect this impact and demonstrate the vital role sport plays in improving lives across our city.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Dundee’s sports volunteers. Your commitment, passion and generosity of time make it possible for so many people to take part in, enjoy and succeed in sport. We also congratulate all nominees and category winners and thank everyone who took the time to submit a nomination. Your contributions help ensure that the achievements and dedication within Dundee’s sporting community are properly recognised and celebrated.

A special thank you to our sponsors who make this event possible. We greatly value your support and recognise the important role it plays in acknowledging the contribution sport makes to the citizens of Dundee. This year, our sponsors include the University of Abertay, Doe Sport, Dundee City Disability Sport, Gladstone, Quest Precision Engineering, Sport Dundee, The Dundee Sports Dinner, Robertson, SportScotland and our headline sponsors Gym Rental Company.

The Extra Time programme tackles food poverty and school attendance, providing transport, breakfast and after-school meals for up to 30 children daily.

Greenfield Academy

Greenfield Academy

Greenfield Academy has utilised sport as their vehicle for opportunity and inclusion. With five ASN lunchtime clubs, 28% of girls engaged through the ‘Girls in Sport’ sessions and 56% of the participants from SIMD 1 & 2 backgrounds, the school provides free access to sport for all pupils. Strong partnerships with Kit 4 All, ‘No Boots, No More,’ Robertson and ‘Dundee Bairns Tea’ provide the school community with free sports kits, footwear, equipment and healthy meals, removing financial and practical barriers. Several local clubs are now based at the school to create seamless pathways into community sport, removing the added barrier of travel.
