Camperdown Wildlife Centre welcomed almost 1000 visitors to its first ever Family Fun Friday event, delivered in partnership with several Active Dundee departments during the summer holidays.
Held on Friday 7th August 2026, the event was designed to provide an exciting day out for families, offering a wide range of activities in one location for children of all ages.
Visitors were able to enjoy a variety of play opportunities, including messy play sessions and a bouncy castle with Active Tots, obstacle courses, gymnastic equipment and dance performances and classes delivered by Urban Moves Dance Programme.
The Wildlife Centre extended its programme of keeper talks and animal feeds for the day too. Free pig and goat feeding sessions were particularly popular, allowing visitors to get up close and enjoy a more hands-on experience.
Family Fun Friday also provided a platform for Active Dundee to showcase some of its programmes, memberships and activities available across the city, with course facilitators and coaches on site to chat to the public
The offering was further enhanced by sessions from TinyTalk East Perthshire and Dundee West, who hosted sessions teaching British Sign Language to little ones through song, storytelling and interactive play.
As part of the event, we partnered with other venues within Leisure & Culture Dundee to offer a free prize raffle. Winners received family tickets for Dundee Ice Arena, Olympia, Camperdown Wildlife Centre and a family ticket to a show at the Whitehall Theatre.
Following the success of the first Family Fun Friday, we hope to build on the event in future, continuing to provide opportunities for families to enjoy active, educational and engaging experiences together.
