Bookings
- Your booking is for the same day and time each week with only one session permitted per child
- The St Paul's and Grove Learn to Swim programmes continue through all holidays other than the Christmas/New Year break.
- Olympia’s Learn to Swim operates during Dundee school term times only.
Payments/Tokens
- Payment is required in advance to guarantee your space.
- Your initial payment will be made through Connect, our Online Payment System
- Top Up tokens are purchased through your Homeportal: https:// leisuredundee.leisurecloud.net/HomePortal/
- Leisure and Culture Dundee has a no-refund policy and tokens are non- transferable.
- 1 token is taken for each lesson regardless of whether the participant attends. This includes if a participant is sick or due to adverse weather. No token is taken in cases of Leisure and Culture Dundee cancellations.
Leisureactive Membership
- Leisureactive Membership applies to all Centres.
- Memberships that include swimming lessons are: Adult FullFit /Adult FullFit concession /Junior single /Junior attached /Teen Plus /Teen Plus attached
- Leisureactive Membership does not entitle the participant to more than one session per week
- More than two missed lessons without contact with the Aquatics Team may result in the participant being removed from the class

Essential Information
- Children aged 7 years or under: parents/guardians/carers should not leave the building during the activity, we would prefer the same arrangement be observed for all children participating, if possible.
- Participants - please ensure that you use the toilet before your lesson.
- If you have had a diarrhoeal illness recently, it is recommended that they do not use the swimming pool. Ask for further advice.
- An Aquatic Activity Permission Form must be completed prior to enrolling in the Learn to Swim programme, however, LACD reserve the right to periodically request an update.
- Relevant information is available to the teacher via their Hand Held Device.
- Parents/Guardians/Carers/Participants should contact the Aquatics Team if they have any concerns, queries or have any information they need passed onto the Swim Teacher.
Changing Facilities and Lockers
- All centres offer Unisex changing facilities and lockers operate with a £1 coin (or trolley token) which is returnable.
- Clothing must be stored away in the lockers provided and any clothing found in cubicles will be deemed as lost property.
- Mobile phones are prohibited within all changing areas.
- At St Paul’s and Grove the changing room door to poolside will remain locked prior to the lesson commencing.
Teachers
- Pre-school lessons normally require some level of in-pool teaching support.
- Teachers are governing-body qualified and are also qualified lifeguards.
- Every effort is made to ensure consistency and continuity of teachers but there are some circumstances beyond our control, such as short-notice illness.
Assessments
- Participants are assessed on a weekly basis and progress can be viewed on Homeportal
- Swim Teachers will use a Hand Held Device to update the participant’s progress and this may involve asking the participants to sit on the poolside in order to do this safely.
- When participants are promoted, parents/guardians/carers will be able to view and select a new class level from Homeportal, only available spaces will be visible. If no suitable space is available participants can stay in their current level/class/day/time. Participants Progressing from Pre-School to School-Age Lessons
- Customer will be contacted by email to offer spaces as they become available.
- Lesson spaces are allocated as they become available and our Pre School swimmers will have priority over new applicants to the school age programme.
- Spaces will be allocated in accordance with preferences indicated and customers will receive confirmation if their booking by e-mail.
Automated Customer Contact
Customers will receive automated e-mails in the following instances:
Booking confirmation, Registering with Home Portal, Top up reminders and confirmation, cancellations & promotion to the next level.
It is essential that we are kept up to date with any changes to your email address to ensure you receive information regarding our programme. The email address that you provide should be one that is checked regularly. Please check your junk folder if you do not receive e-mails.
Homeportal
Homeportal is where parents/guardians/carers or adult participant can view information relevant to the participants swim lesson including assessments. Multiple participants can be managed from one account, including Topping up tokens. An email will be issued when promotion to the next level has been achieved, homeportal will show available days and times.
Topping Up
- You can Top Up on Homeportal by purchasing tokens once there are 3 tokens left on your account.
- Tokens can be purchased either 5 or 10 at a time, each token representing 1 swim lesson.
- You will receive 3 emails, first reminder - 3 tokens remaining. Second reminder - 2 tokens remaining. Third & FINAL reminder - 1 token remaining
- In order to retain the booking, tokens must be topped up prior to the last lesson commencing. Failure to do so will result in the participant being automatically removed from the programme. In such circumstances the participant will lose the space.
Spectating
- Olympia – viewing available from poolside balconies
- St Paul's/Grove – no spectating
Timekeeping
If your class time is proving difficult, please contact the Aquatic Team to check availability. Our capacity to accommodate any changes is limited during this period.
Mentoring/Trainee Swim Teachers/ Volunteers
- Senior staff may periodically be on poolside to review teaching activity, to help maintain/improve the quality and standard of our swim programmes.
- There may be new swim teachers training on the poolside working with our regular staff to gain familiarity with our programme
Emergency
Swim Teachers will be responsible for their participants during any emergency evacuation. This will generally mean awaiting further instruction at an emergency exit.
