Your Booking

  • Lessons run at the same day and time each week.
  • Each participant (adult or child) may attend one Learn to Swim or Learn to Dive class per week.
  • St Paul’s and Grove run lessons all year except Christmas–New Year.
  • Olympia lessons run during Dundee school term times only.
  • If a class is cancelled, you will receive an automatic email.

Membership

(Required Before Booking for Grove & St Paul’s)

You must have the correct membership in place before your booking is confirmed.

Membership types:

  • Active Adult Unlimited – for adults (18+)
  • Active Teen Unlimited – 12–17 years
  • Active Junior Unlimited – birth–11 years

Please note: 
If more than two lessons are missed without contacting the Aquatics Team, the space may be released.

Paying for Lessons

(Token System) - OLYMPIA ONLY

Lessons are paid for using tokens, purchased in advance.

How it works:

  • First payment is made through Connect.
  • Future tokens are purchased through HomePortal.
  • Tokens come in packs of 5 or 10, and each represents one lesson.

Token rules:

  • 1 token is deducted per scheduled lesson, attended or not (including illness or adverse weather).
  • No token is deducted for Active Dundee cancellations.
  • You can top up when you reach 3 tokens remaining.

Automatic reminders are sent when:

  • 3 tokens remain
  • 2 tokens remain
  • 1 token remains (final warning)

Tokens must be topped up before the last one is used, or the participant will be removed from the programme.

Before Your Lesson

  • Please use the toilet before entering the pool.
  • If you or your child has recently had a diarrhoeal illness, contact us for advice before returning.
  • An Aquatic Activity Permission Form must be completed before joining (and updated when requested).
  • Contact the Aquatics Team if you have concerns or need to pass on information to the instructor.

Supervision

(For Participants Under 8)

  • Children 7 years and under must have a supervising adult stay in the building.
  • For older children, we encourage adults to remain on site when possible.

Changing Facilities & Lockers

  • All centres have unisex changing areas.
  • Lockers require a £1 coin or trolley token (returned after use).
  • Clothing must be stored in lockers—items left out will be moved to lost property.
  • Mobile phones are not permitted in changing rooms.
  • At St Paul’s and Grove, access from changing to poolside stays locked until lesson start time.

Instructors

  • All instructors are fully qualified and hold lifeguarding qualifications.
  • We aim to keep instructor consistency, though short‑notice changes can occur.

Progress & Moving Up

  • Progress is assessed weekly, and updates are visible through HomePortal.
  • Instructors use handheld devices poolside to record progress safely.
  • When ready to move up, available class options will appear on HomePortal.
  • If no suitable class is available, the participant may stay in their current class.

Moving from Pre‑School to School‑Age Lessons

  • Families will be contacted by email when a space becomes available.
  • Pre‑School swimmers are prioritised over new applicants.
  • Booking confirmations will follow once a space is offered.

Spectating

  • Olympia – Viewing available from poolside balconies
  • St Paul’s & Grove – No spectating permitted

Changing Your Class Time

If your class time becomes difficult, please contact the Aquatics Team. Availability for changes may be limited.

Quality Assurance, Trainees & Volunteers

  • Senior staff may observe sessions for training and quality checks.
  • Trainee instructors may support lessons.
  • Volunteers may help instructors and participants.

Emergencies

In the event of an evacuation, instructors will guide participants to the nearest emergency exit and await instructions.
